Thursday 18 June, Microsoft released patches for all versions of Windows 10, which fixes problems with printers that were created with previous OS updates. Also the patches released for Windows Server 2012/2016/2019 and Windows 8.1.
Many users have experienced problems with incorrect working of different printers after installing updates KB4557957 and KB4560960 included in the June package of security updates (Patch Tuesday for Windows 10). Now the company has solved the problem.
What was the problem
It turned out that after installing these updates, the USB port was connected to the printer disappeared from the list of ports. In addition, Windows 10 could not perform any tasks which required interaction with it disabled the port, including printing.
The global spread of this problem has also been fixed by Microsoft, and the company explained that it has started work on its solution. Windows 10 users and printers produced by HP, Canon, Panasonic, Brother, Toshiba and Ricoh began to notice that the functionality of the printers, too, was broken on some systems stopped working wireless printing, others were missing and not working elements of the printing system ceased to function properly the print spooler, right up to dispensing errors and the inability to print documents or images, even in pdf.
Some users have found their solution to this problem – they were connected to the USB port and turn on the printer to launch Windows 10. But, for example, for laptop owners the decision was not very comfortable. And completely to all users, this solution is not suitable.
The solution to the problem
Microsoft online, a week after this issue occurs, have released patches for some versions of Windows 10, and on Thursday released patches for other OS versions supported by the company. These patches available in Windows update, you can also install them manually. Besides, system administrators can import these patches in Windows Server Update Services (WSUS).

- Windows 10, version 1703 – KB4567516;
- Windows 10, version 1607 and Windows Server 2016 – KB4567517;
- Windows 10, version 1507 – KB4567518;
- Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 – KB4567521;
- Windows Server 2012 – KB4567522.
Judging by the quick response of Microsoft and developers of numbering patches in a row, one by one, it was really a serious problem, which affects a lot of users of Windows 10.
