Microsoft begins open beta testing of its streaming game service xCloud for Europe. The software giant originally launched xCloud Preview in September for USA, UK and South Korea. Now the service became available in Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain and Sweden.
Any user in those countries can now subscribe to the beta version of xCloud for Android. But due to the ongoing pandemic COVID-19 Microsoft carefully says about when people will get access to the service. “We know that the game is an important way for people to stay connected, especially during the forced social distancing, but we are also aware of how the bandwidth affects the load on the regional network, because a lot of people responsibly stay home and use the Internet”, – said the head of the Project xCloud Katherine Gluckstein (Catherine Gluckstein).
Microsoft adheres to a balanced approach to help preserve access to the Network, starting beta testing of the service in each market with a limited number of people and gradually expanding the number of participants. Registration for 11 European countries is already open on the Microsoft website xCloud.
Microsoft still plans to implement a broader launch xCloud this year, but in 2019-th Gluckstein warned in an interview with The Verge that not all countries where you will be beta testing xCloud will have access to a full-fledged service starts. Microsoft also recently began testing xCloud for iPhone and iPad, but the company said that it had to be limited to one game in accordance with the policy of App Store.
