A couple of days ago Microsoft has a new patent, which is to turn the smartphone into a kind of analogue Nintendo Switch. Although the description mentions Xbox, on multiple drawings are drawings of buttons and the symbol console.
The patent relates to a charger controller, which, as stated in the application, temporarily attached to the touch screen device for input control. Possible functions of the controllers include built-in speakers, headphone port and support for wireless headphones.
Controllers designed to address specific problems that typically arise in games for devices with touchscreen, such as sliding fingers, hard to reach area of the screen and limited screen space for controls.
Apparently, the controllers are primarily intended for games via the streaming platform Project xCloud from Microsoft.
