The defense Ministry and the General staff will be able to sign contracts to import weapons directly, without intermediaries.
President Petro Poroshenko has signed a law that authorizes the defense Ministry to conclude international agreements on the import of defence products without attracting Ukroboronprom. About it reports a press-service of the head of state on Thursday, January 31.
“The armed forces waited for a long time, the government supported it, and Parliament has made a decisive step”, – said Poroshenko.
He stressed that the document will allow the Ministry of defence and the General staff of the armed forces to buy abroad the fact that NATO partners are ready to supply Ukraine.
The law allows state customers of the state defense order directly purchase products, works and services for defense purposes on imports. We will note, now engaged in this so-called “special exporters” or institutionalized mediators.
The contractors under the state defence order are given powers to carry out import of military goods and goods containing data which constitute state secrets, by the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers.
