Brazilian writer Paulo Coelho said that he never supported the leader of “Batkivshchyna” Yulia Tymoshenko as candidate for President of Ukraine. The writer explained that he does not have the moral right to participate in Ukrainian politics.
“I never wrote any reports in support of her candidacy. Even if she likes me as a person, the Ukrainian politics is not my business,” wrote the writer on his Twitter page on Wednesday, January 23.
At the party Congress of “Batkivshchyna” on January 22, which was held on the nomination of Tymoshenko as candidate for President, showed a film about her. In one of the passages Coelho gives positive response Tymoshenko calls her charismatic personality, “able to govern the country”, transfers “BBC Ukraine”.
The film also included excerpts from an interview with first President of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk, the former head of the SBU Valentin Nalyvaychenko, former President of Poland Aleksander Kwasniewski and other politicians. They are all complementary to say about Tymoshenko.
In a press-service “Batkivshchyna” declared that consider the specified film is not propaganda and biographical. And the interview with Coelho is archived.
“Interview with Coelho in 2010 recorded a Croatian film Director James Sedlar, which produced in that year, the film “Julia”. That Director has all the rights to show that he, and we passed,” – said the press Secretary Tymoshenko Maryna Soroka in the comment “Ukrainian truth”.
