According to the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, the Ukrainians will never forget the heroic feat of the “cyborg” defenders of Donetsk airport – will not forgive your enemy and don’t betray what you believe in and fighting for what.
The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on 20 January commemorated the defenders of the Donetsk airport “cyborgs”, the correspondent of “GORDON”.
“We are privileged to live at the same time with incredible characters who have become legend. But they are not a myth but true. The fierce opposition of the Ukrainian soldiers from the Russian aggressors in Donetsk airport was completed at the end of January. Failed the wall. But the Ukrainian soldiers survived, not broken, not bent, and obtained immortal glory. And so – won”, – said Poroshenko.
In his words, “pain and gratitude encourage us to remember all who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of Ukraine, for liberation of Ukrainian lands”.
“These people are already legends, books, movies. And low bow to you, fathers and mothers, husbands and wives, brothers and sisters, daughters and sons, “cyborg”, the children of flesh and blood, which was stronger than concrete and iron… the defenders of the Donetsk airport has laid the Foundation for our victory. And it will come. And God forbid that one peaceful day in the liberated Donbas peace we all gathered on the runway of the Donetsk airport, near the terminal, near the famous tower… we were just there and paused,” – said Poroshenko.
He added that “Ukraine will not go their own way”.
“Eternal memory to the defenders of the Donetsk airport. Will never forget the heroic deed and will not forgive the enemy, do not betray what you believe in and fighting for what,” said the President of Ukraine.
The armed conflict in Eastern Ukraine began in April 2014. Fighting underway between the Armed forces of Ukraine and Pro-Russian rebels who control part of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
Ukrainian military left the Donetsk airport on January 22, 2015. The defense of the airport lasted for 242 days. During the battle, was completely destroyed all the buildings, both terminal and control tower.
