The border in the Donbass should go under the control of Ukraine, and Russia should not prevent it, says the President
If Russia blocks action in the UN security Council on peacekeepers in the East of Ukraine, against the environment of Russian President Vladimir Putin will be strengthened economic sanctions.
The President Petro Poroshenko said on air of radio “New time”, reports the press service of the head of state.
“We should immediately move to implement the Minsk agreements. Security component – is making for a meeting of the UN Security Council the issue of the “blue helmets” – said the head of state.
He noted that it was a traditional peacekeeping mission, which must perform several tasks to create the security environment:
- withdrawal from Ukraine of all foreign troops, as recorded in the Minsk agreements;
- the disarmament of illegal armed formations to create a corresponding security component;
- the withdrawal outside the territory of heavy weapons.
The head of state noted that after this we can talk about the introduction of a political component.
“The most important component is to take control of the uncontrolled part of the Russian-Ukrainian border in order to prevent seepage through the uncontrolled part of the border forces, that will destroy a security component,” – said Poroshenko.
According to him, the whole world that the “blue helmets” – it should be a traditional peacekeeping mission with a mandate to use force.
“Force is used against illegal armed groups. Thus, we ensure the safety of Ukrainians living in the occupied territory, and press out the occupation troops,” he explained.
“We need to secure a meeting in the Normandy format, which implements the Minsk agreements. As there are no other agreements, on the basis of which it is possible to apply sanctions”, – said Poroshenko.
Answering the question of what would happen if Russia blocks action in the UN security Council on peacekeepers in the Donbass, the President said:
“The sanctions will be strengthened. The sanctions are in very sensitive areas. For example, financial. For example, the seizure of assets of Putin’s inner circle. For example, the prohibition of the transfer of sensitive technologies that shape the Russian economy”.
He added that the Russian economy is integrated into the world.
“And if you take a professional approach to the issue, every month, every quarter, the price of Russian occupation of Ukraine is expected to increase,” – said Petro Poroshenko.
We will remind, earlier Poroshenko said Putin had put himself in a trap, capturing the Crimea and the occupied part of Donbass.
It was also reported that Poroshenko explained what the Kremlin threatens to delay the issue of the Ukrainian prisoners.
