Portland managed on their home court to win “Denver” in the third match of the playoffs of the NBA. But for definition of the winner commands had to play four overtimes. This is the second such case in the history of the playoffs of the NBA. The previous one was in season 1953-1954.
Neither team possessed a significant advantage on the court. The maximum lead was 10, but “Denver” every time not only reduced the gap, but come forward. So in the main time teams scored an equal number of points – 102:102.
Equal game continued in overtime. Therefore, the key episode of the match was getting Rodney Hood from Portland three-pointer for 17.8 seconds to the end of the fourth overtime. Then his team lost by 135:136, and through his throwing went ahead by two points. After that, Denver was able to tie the score after the nuggets got the right to two free throws. But Nikola jokić missed one of the attempts. Portland also held a positive result.
With this victory, Portland took the lead in series 2:1.
As for the match itself, the four overtimes is the repetition of the record for play – off NBA. Last so long played “Boston” and “Syracuse” in the season 1953-1954.
I should add that Nikola jokić made several achievements in this match. The player played 65 minutes, which is the best indicator in the play-off NBA with 1953. During this time, the center has issued a triple-double: earned 33 points and made 14 assists and 18 rebounds.
