The Verkhovna Rada Committee on law enforcement on Wednesday, June 10, to consider bill No. 1007 “On amendments to some laws of Ukraine concerning activities of the National guard of Ukraine”.
The bill provides for the subordination of the National guard to the President, and the removal command it from the jurisdiction of the interior Ministry.
The document included in the agenda of the meeting of the relevant Committee of the Parliament, reports Interfax-Ukraine.
The initiator of the bill is President Vladimir Zelensky, Rapporteur on his behalf at the meeting by the representative of the guarantor of the Constitution in Parliament and the first Vice-speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk and co-Rapporteur will be the Chairman of the Subcommittee Alexander Bakumov.
“In addition, in the context of the special period, the implementation of special operations forces, which include units of NSU, measures to counter military aggression of Russia against Ukraine and protection of the sovereign territories of our state, the leadership of the military forces, including the National guard of Ukraine, does not belong to the sphere of internal Affairs, a policy in which the law prepared by the Ministry of internal Affairs of Ukraine and the national security and defense. Therefore, the existing legal collisions arose a need to amend the laws of Ukraine “On national security of Ukraine” and “About National guard of Ukraine”, – stated in the explanatory note to the bill.
We will remind, in may the Verkhovna Rada failed to vote for the bill No. 3105, aimed at expanding the powers of the staff of the National guard, including the right to conduct personal searches.
