On June 24 in Odessa, the presentation of the project “Odessa on the touch with closed eyes”, implemented at the expense of municipal initiatives “Public budget”.
So, according to the press service of the municipality, near the buildings of the city Council, the Odessa archaeological Museum and the English club (Maritime Museum) opened their little copies, and now people with visual impairments can touch to see the details of these famous monuments.
Such objects are created at the initiative of Odessa Svetlana Streltsova, which also has visual impairment. And about this practice Svetlana learned during a trip to Poland.
“This project is a shining example of how a dream becomes a reality. I believe that the citizens of Odessa with respect to the thumbnails, and thumbnails will be a long time” – emphasizes the resident.
Note also that last year in Odessa began to operate a year-round tourist route for persons with disabilities and the new facilities will be an integral part thereof.
“This project gives the opportunity to enjoy the architecture of Odessa for those unable to see it. It’s not just miniatures of buildings, it is able to feel every detail. Odessa makes the next step towards accessibility and it is very important that this step is the result of joint efforts of government and the public”, – said at the opening of the Deputy mayor Svetlana Bedrega.
According to the official, in a very short time in Odessa, it is planned to install copies of the Odessa national Opera and ballet theatre, Vorontsov Palace and the Vorontsov colonnade.
