The world Cup is helping Russia to improve the country’s image on the world stage. This is facilitated by feedback from foreign fans, — told President Vladimir Putin during a meeting with the head of FIFA, Gianni Infantino and well-known players:
The so-called “people’s journalists” contributed to the fact that many stereotypes about Russia just collapsed
the President of Russia
“So many people came to Russia with such good intentions and in this connection I would like to note that the so-called “people’s journalists”, those people who work from themselves, in their personal capacity on social networks, they contributed to the fact that many stereotypes about Russia just collapsed”.
The world Cup takes place against the backdrop of protests against the pension reform, which, according to sociologists, leads to a drop in the rating of the re-elected President. However, the tournament and especially the victory of the national team considered to be a factor which promotes the growth of patriotism and softens the mood of protest even in the discussion of unpopular reforms.
