Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon X55 modem with support for speeds 5G. He created a process technology 7-nm and a single chip has an integrated multimode modem 5G-2G.
Snapdragon X55 is the first on the market modem technology to support the tracking of the envelope with a range of 100 MHz and an adaptive tuning antenna for ranges of 5G to 6 GHz.
It supports frequency bands below 6 GHz and the range of millimeter-wave 5G NR with download speeds up to 7 Gbit/s and upload speeds of up to 3GB/s as well as LTE category 22 with download speed up to 2.5 Gbps.
It can operate in TDD and FDD modes, able to operate in stand-alone (SA) and non-Autonomous (NSA) deployment options network. In addition to the new frequency bands allocated for 5G, the modem supports dynamic allocation of spectrum between 4G and 5G, which will allow mobile operators to accelerate the deployment of 5G in existing 4G bands.
The advent of modem commercial devices worth waiting for closer to the end of 2019.
