The Verkhovna Rada adopted the law “On amendments to the Forest code of Ukraine regarding the implementation of the national forest inventory” (No. 2379).
The bill was supported by 322 MPs, the correspondent of UKRINFORM.
“The adoption of this bill will introduce a legal regulation of the national forest inventory, expand the scope and improve the quality of data on forests, which will provide the necessary information basis for the formation of strategic goals and objectives of the state policy in the sphere of forestry”, – stated in the explanatory Memorandum.
The law amends the Forest code of Ukraine regarding the concept of national forest inventory, determining the goals of its implementation and sources of funding.
It is expected that through the implementation of the national forest inventory will be obtained a reliable estimate of the total inventory of plantations (estimated error ± 3%) and for the first time for Ukraine will be determined by the performance of the current growth of plantings needed to assess the level of intensity of forest management. Among other potentially important outcomes – determine the area of samozaryadnyj of agricultural lands and clarification of reporting to the UN framework Convention on climate change the UN and the Kyoto Protocol regarding the annual level of greenhouse gases sequestration by forests of Ukraine, etc.
The law shall enter into force on the day following the day?? of its publication.
