RB Leipzig will be looking to keep up with the Bundesliga’s top two when they host Werder Bremen on Saturday afternoon (2:30pm kick-off).
Julian Nagelsmann’s side are currently third in the table, two points behind Bayern Munich following their entertaining 3-3 draw last weekend, with Bayer Leverkusen one ahead of Die Roten Bullen.
Things haven’t been as good for Werder Bremen, who have won just two of their 10 games so far, with five draws, languishing in 13th.

RB Leipzig vs Werder Bremen build-up, previous line-ups & injury news:
RB Leipzig go into Saturday’s game off the back of an important win in the Champions League, securing their runners-up spot in Group H thanks to a 3-2 triumph over Manchester United (whom they relegated to the Europa League). It also extended their unbeaten run across all competitions to four games, since a 1-0 defeat to PSG towards the end of November. Domestically, Leipzig are also unbeaten in four games following a 1-0 loss to Borussia Monchengladbach on the final day of October, which saw them lose top spot.
Bremen, meanwhile, are without a win since the start of October including back-to-back defeats against Wolfsburg and Stuttgart going into this fixture. However, that winless run did include a 1-1 draw away to Bayern Munich two weeks ago, the final of five consecutive 1-1 stalemates that started Bremen’s slip down the Bundesliga table. Saturday’s game is also the start of a tough run for Bremen in which they face Borussia Dortmund in midweek, and Union Berlin, Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Monchengladbach before January is up.
- RB Leipzig (vs Manchester United): Gulacsi; Mukiele, Konate, Orban; Haidara, Kampl, Sabitzer, Angelino; Nkunku, Forsberg; Olmo.
- Werder Bremen (vs Stuttgart): Pavlenka; Gebre Selassie, Toprak, Friedll, Augustinsson; Groß, Eggestein; Bittencourt, Osako, Chong; Sargent.
Neither side has any fresh injury concerns going into Saturday’s game, but RB Leipzig do remain without Benjamin Henrichs, Lukas Klostermann, Koran Laimer and Lazar Samardzic, while Hwang Hee-chan is a doubt. Werder Bremen, meanwhile, are missing Niklas Fullkrug and Milot Rashica.
Player to watch: Angelino (RB Leipzig)
Although they were so close to undoing their good work against Man Utd, RB Leipzig were well-deserving of their win and subsequent qualification to the Champions League knockout stages. A big part of their win, and their season so far, was on-loan Manchester City left-back, Angelino.
The Spaniard had spent last season on loan at the Red Bull Arena and impressed enough to earn another temporary stay in Saxony but, in this campaign, he has taken his game to another level. Angelino, who has played as both a left-back and wing-back on occasion this season, has had more touches than any other RB Leipzig player in the Bundesliga at 780, 47 more than his next team-mate (Dayot Upamecano). He is one of just two RB Leipzig players to create at least 20 chances in the Bundesliga, alongside Christopher Nkunku (24) and has also recorded two assists.
But, most importantly this season, he appears to have taken the responsibility to replace Timo Werner’s goals, currently RB Leipzig’s top scorer in the Bundesliga with four (adding three in the Champions League), three of which have come from open play.
