In the lists of candidates for the national team of Russia on football there is at least one person involved in doping scandal. This was stated by the informant of the world anti-doping Agency, former head of the Moscow anti-doping laboratory, Grigory Rodchenkov. According to him, this athlete was among those whose positive doping tests were hidden at the request of the then Minister of sport Vitaly Mutko: “Mutko as my boss and influential people, including in the Russian football, told me: don’t touch players. If there are any problems, immediately report to me. Usually I reported to my immediate superior, the Deputy Minister Yury Nagornykh, and he’s already reported to Mutko”.

According to Rodchenkova, the upcoming world Cup needs to be cleaner thanks to the international control of drugs and the attitude of the players, which pointed out the WADA, are being investigated. Meanwhile, FIFA has announced that cases of doping in Russian football closed: materials of WADA, and the investigation of Richard McLaren found no evidence of the use of illicit substances.
