SBU suspected officials of the city Council of Cherkasy in the assignment of more than 1.5 million hryvnia

Officials of Cherkasy city Council are suspected of assignment of 1,6 million hryvnias of budgetary funds allocated for the repairs of the streets. It is reported by UNN citing the press center of the SBU.

“The security service of Ukraine stopped illegal activity of officials of Cherkasy city Council, which organized corruption scheme of embezzlement of public funds. The operatives of intelligence agencies have established that the criminal group consisted of four officers of Council, including the leadership of one of the departments, the owner and Director of a commercial structure. Officials entered into an agreement with a construction company in current repair of street-road network of the city with a total value of more than 18.5 million hryvnias”, – is spoken in the message.

The results of the inspection recorded that the funds were transferred to a specially created company-envelopes. Then the attackers transferred budgetary funds in cash, thus avoiding payment of taxes.

According to experts, through the implementation of this transaction, the state budget was damaged by over 1.6 million.

During searches in office offices officials seized a black accounting, financial and payment documents, confirming the illegal activities.

In the framework of criminal proceedings opened under part 3 of article 28 (Commission of crime by group of persons, group of persons by prior conspiracy, an organized group or a criminal organization) and part 2 St. 364 (abuse of power and official position) the Criminal code of Ukraine, five members of the criminal group carried out a message of suspicion.
