The rumors were true – the Mercedes is indeed planning to introduce new electric car, which most likely will be called EQS as soon as it is presented in the beginning of the next decade. Foreign journalists captured a test prototype of the new items, which was pretty much camouflaged. But it is clear that we are dealing with something very special. With a low roofline and stylish form – this is not your typical Mercedes, as this prototype looks more elegant.

Seen the electric car may have several features in common with Executive S-class sedan’s next-generation (index W223), but he seems to refuse from the traditional style body sedan in favor of a more practical five-door liftback.

Speaking of the rear of the machine, we can say that these oval cutouts in camouflage on the rear bumper can indicate that the car was the exhaust pipes, but journalists still insist that we have before us something other than the electric vehicle, which nozzles just do not need.

The main tail lights that stick out as “sick thumb” is obviously a temporary solution used only in the early stages of testing because real are either absent or hidden under dense camouflage. As we said earlier, the electrical equivalent of the Executive sedan will receive body type 5-door liftback.

It is expected that Mercedes EQS will be built on a special platform for electric vehicles, known as MEA (Modular electric architecture). The aluminum body will get a flat floor to maximise the space inside. According to reports, power will flow from the dual electric motors – one on the front axle and another the rear to provide all wheel drive. We expect more power compared to the EQC model, which offers 402 HP (765 Nm).
