Vice Prime Minister on European and Euro-Atlantic integration Olga Stefanyshyna discussed with the European Commissioner for trade Phil Hogan on the issues of development of trade relations between Ukraine and the EU.
As reported by “European true” with reference to the European integration portal, this was discussed during the online meetings with the Commissioner.
“The Ukrainian government is committed to develop our relations as trade allies. In this regard, we are interested in deepening of cooperation between Ukraine and the EU, both at bilateral and multilateral levels in the framework Vsemirnoi trade organization”, – said Stefanyshyna.
Vice Prime Minister also stressed that the ability to update the trade part of the Association Agreement in 2021 gives both sides a chance to set trade-economic cooperation for the coming years.
“This is the right moment to begin discussions about our future trade relations. We begin a dialogue with the Ukrainian business regarding their requirements and expectations in the context of updating the Association Agreement economic part,” she said.
According to Stepanishina, “the removal of technical barriers to trade in industrial products, in particular by the signing of the Agreement on conformity assessment and acceptance of industrial products is our key priority for the most effective realization of the potential of trade with the EU”.
The parties also discussed the possibility of the internal market in four sectors (financial, telecommunications, postal, courier and sea), as well as the signing of the Agreement, ASEA (the so-called “industrial bezviz”).
“The growth of trade between Ukraine and the EU must be accompanied by the establishment of a substantive dialogue on logistics,” – said the Deputy Prime Minister and added that Ukraine is interested in beginning discussions with the EU about the further mutual opening of markets.
