June 22 – Ukraine’s Day of mourning and remembrance of war victims. Today, the country bowed their heads in a minute of silence as a sign of eternal memory of those whose lives were claimed by the Second world war. In the Day of grief and memory, the first Deputy Governor Ivan Fedorov, Secretary of the city Council Roman Romanov, the first Deputy mayor Irina Rudakova, city officials, members of veterans ‘ organizations and ordinary citizens laid flowers to the memorial sign, eternal flame and the graves of fallen soldiers in the Brethren cemetery.
79 years ago, on this day, 22 June without Declaration of war the troops of the invader broke the peace in our land. Many years have passed since then, but the memory of those terrible times will live on in the minds and hearts of descendants forever. Today, Melitopol together with the whole country paid tribute to those killed during the Second world war. Fresh flowers were laid to the memorial “1941. June. Dawn. Without a Declaration of war…”. The rally-Requiem was attended by first Deputy Governor Ivan Fedorov, Secretary of the city Council Roman Romanov, the first Deputy of the mayor of Irina Rudakova, head of the Council of veterans Evgeny Babenko, the city Council deputies, heads of structural divisions and the municipal enterprises of Melitopol.
