The death toll in the crash of a ferry on lake Victoria in Northern Tanzania, has reached 225 people. It is reported, citing local authorities.
On Saturday rescuers found one survivor. It appeared to be the mechanic of the ship. The man is hospitalized in serious condition. Rescuers in the meantime continue to look for the bodies and deliver them to shore.
The ferry sank on 20 September between the Islands Ukara and Bagalore. On Board of the ship, designed for one hundred passengers were more than 400 people. The ferry capsized a few meters from the mooring point.
Relatives of the victims, whose bodies have already been identified, Sunday-bye to their loved ones. The President of Tanzania announced last Friday, 4 days of national mourning for the victims of the ferry crash. Simultaneously, the President has ordered the arrest of owners of the company that owned the ferry.
