Ordzhonikidzevskiy district court of Kharkiv in the framework of consideration of the petition of the prosecution on remand accused of separatism, ex-mayor of Slavyansk neleh Shtepa on Wednesday could not hear the two witnesses of the four declared by the Prosecutor’s office, said the Agency “Interfax-Ukraine” lawyer Alexander Shadrin.
“In the context of consideration of application for preventive measure the Prosecutor’s office announced the 4 questioning of witnesses. Two questioned. Two not yet. According to the Prosecutor, they were not due to the fact that it is not transport (from Sloviansk to Kharkiv) because of the pandemic coronavirus. But, as we know, transport is already walking, the witnesses today did not come without good reason. As the Prosecutor did not provide the attendance of witnesses, postponed (meeting) on the 20th of July,” said Shadrin told the Agency Interfax-Ukraine”.
According to him, the court granted the petition for interrogation of these witnesses via videoconference with the Slavic court.
The lawyer also said that the group of prosecutors has changed.
“The new Prosecutor in the case. The resolution… does not contain the reasons why have changed the group of prosecutors. We therefore challenged. (Prosecutors) Kravchenko and Kadygrob from the group excluded for an unknown reason. On Kravchenko was a statement in the press that she was fired, as for Kadygrob – it is unclear why it was excluded,” said Shadrin.
Shtepa was arrested on July 13, 2014. She’s accused of committing criminal offenses under part 3 of article 110 (encroachment on territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine, which caused death of people) and part 1 of article 258-3 (creation of terrorist group or organization) of the Criminal code of Ukraine.
