Supreme land court of Vienna has decided on the admissibility of extradition to the United States and the conduct of criminal proceedings against Ukrainian businessman Dmitry Firtash.
Thus the court has satisfied the appeal of Prosecutor’s office of Vienna at the preliminary court’s refusal to extradite businessman.
The final decision on the extradition of Firtash in the United States will take the Federal Minister of justice of Austria, said the judge.
12 March 2014 Dmitry Firtash was arrested in Austria on request of the Ministry of justice.
The Ministry accused Ukrainian businessman in bribery in the amount of 18.5 million dollars in order to obtain permission for the extraction of titanium raw materials in India. The finished product is then planned to sell in the United States.
This case involves six people, including Indian parliamentarian, Hungarian, Indian and Sri Lankan entrepreneurs.
According to investigators, the suspects had bribed Indian officials to get permission to develop a titanium mine in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.
