The creators of “Game of thrones” David Benioff and Dan Weiss refused to write a script for a new piece of “Star wars” and produce these paintings. Eighteen months after the statements of readiness to engage in the project Benioff and Weiss signed an exclusive five-year contract with Netflix at $300 million. Under the contract, the showrunners of “Game of thrones” will write scripts for this company.
In the summer of 2019 Benioff and Weiss met with representatives from Netflix, HBO, Disney, Comcast, Amazon and Apple and in the end decided to cooperate with the streaming service. “Over the past few months we spent many hours talking with Cindy Holland and Peter Friedlander and Ted Sarandos and Scott Stuber (lead Netflix. – Approx. ed.). We remember the same frames from the same movies of the 80s; we love the same books; we love to tell stories in this way. Netflix has created something amazing and unprecedented, and we’re glad they invited us to join them,” said the producers, which is quoted by deadline.
The first film of the trilogy was to be released in December 2022. The other two pictures were scheduled for 2024 and 2026. It is unclear whether there will be these dates are unchanged, said birdinflight.
