The football Federation of Ukraine not been in contact with UEFA regarding the naturalization of Brazilian striker “Shakhtar” Junior Moraes.
UEFA has not consulted FFU naturalized forward and did not give approval for his participation in the qualification matches for Euro 2020 against Portugal and Luxembourg, reports the Record.
It is also noted that UEFA has not confirmed the participation of the striker in the qualifiers of the European championship in 2020.
Informed Sport 24 wrote that the General Secretary of football Federation of Ukraine Yury Zapesotsky said that on this issue, consultations were held with experts from UEFA and FIFA, which confirmed the legitimacy of the invitation of the player in the national team.
What happened to the naturalization of Moraes? Football Federation of Portugal and Luxembourg challenged the participation of Junior Moraes in matches for the national team of Ukraine. First, a technical defeat because the participation of Moraes in the match demanded Portugal. Local newspaper indicated that the player has not fulfilled one of the necessary conditions for citizenship – residence in the territory of Ukraine continuously 5 years. Later this idea decide to use and of the football Federation of Luxembourg. Junior Moraes received Ukrainian citizenship on March 15. However, this became known only on March 18. And already on March 19 Junior Moraes received a call in the camp of the national team. He played in two qualifiers on 22 and 25 March. In the first Ukraine played out a draw with Portugal. In the second, the Ukrainians won in Monaco thanks to an own goal in injury time.
