European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, has cut short his vacation in Austria and was quickly admitted to a hospital in Luxembourg to conduct a surgery to remove the gallbladder. This was reported on Saturday the press service of the European Commission.
“President Juncker was forced to cut his vacation in Austria for medical reasons. He was sent to Luxembourg where he was hospitalized, he will need to undergo surgery to remove the gall bladder,” reads the official statement of the European Commission.
The term 64-year-old Luxemburger Juncker at the head of the European Commission will end on 31 October, he was replaced by German artist Ursula von der Leyen. Earlier, Juncker had already announced his intention to retire from politics at the expiration of the term of his mandate.
