The orbiting Hubble telescope, accidentally discovered the smallest of all known galaxies. “Baby” was named Bedin 1 and may is a distant companion of the spiral galaxy NGC 6744.
Astronomers have discovered a new galaxy, as observed globular cluster NGC 6752, which is located at a distance of 13 000 light years from Earth. According to scientists, dwarf galaxy formed only 700 million years after the Big Bang.
This galaxy is more reminiscent of a globular cluster of stars than a full “star metropolis”. Apparently, it was formed in the course of a very short and powerful flashes. Since there are no new stars, – the researchers noted.
Bedin 1 thousands of times fainter than the milky Way
By the way, the galaxy, Bedin 1 dimmer milky Way is about a thousand times. Astronomers do not exclude that it is a remote satellite of the spiral galaxy NGC 6744.
