The fierce clashes resulted in Athens March dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the murder by police of 15-year-old Alexis Grigoropoulos.

Memorial service held earlier in the center of the Greek capital, was peaceful. Then its participants staged a March to the Parliament building of the country, among them many students.

Separated from the main column of the group of aggressive demonstrators started to throw guards with Molotov cocktails and stones. Those in reply applied tear gas.

Alexis Grigoropoulos was killed on December 6, 2008, the day of St. Nicholas in the Athens district of Exarchia, where a group of teenagers threw stones at a police car. Police threw stun grenades and fired three shots. From one of them and killed Alexis.

This tragic incident caused mass protests in Greece. Charged with murder was sentenced to life imprisonment, the 38-year-old policeman. He claimed that he wasn’t aiming at teenagers, and the bullet hit Alexis on the rebound. This was confirmed by the autopsy. But witnesses claimed the opposite.
