The experience of Ukraine in the purchase of medicines adopted for 5 countries. What has been achieved and how the system works today, Deputy health Minister for European integration Olga Stefanyshyna told in the format of a video message at a meeting of the members of the initiative Sustainable Procurement in the Health sector initiative (SHiPP) – Sustainable delivery of healthcare in Vietnam.
The seminar was attended by about 40 participants, representatives of governments, international organizations, non-governmental organizations and the private sector.
For the fifth year in a row for Ukraine to carry out procurement of medicines, the UN development Programme (UNDP), UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF), Crown Agents.
“In 2016, a year after the transition for the purchase of medicines through international organizations, we were able to save up to 40% of the budget and the money to buy more drugs. Now we have fully achieved the need for stents for patients with acute myocardial infarction in emergency cases, vaccination according to the immunization schedule, pediatric Oncology. We are continuously improving internal procedures and are now developing the capacity of national procurement Agency in accordance with the high standards of the work of international organizations”, – said the Deputy Minister of health of Ukraine Olga Stefanyshyna.
At the meeting, the representatives of the UNDP and health care without harm (HCWH) has determined that through the optimization of procurement in the health sector can create more sustainable patterns of production and consumption.
The program “Sustainable delivery of health care” (SHiPP) was founded in 2012. It is composed of 10 members, including 7 international organizations, UNDP, UN environment programme, UN Fund for population, the Office of the UN high Commissioner for refugees, UNICEF, the office of the United Nations for project services, world health organization and the 3 companies on health financing (GAVI, GFATM and UNITAID). The program SHiPP implementerade in 10 countries, including Ukraine.
