The production of the delicacy involves torturing geese.
Holding Myronivsky Hliboproduct announced the closure of production at the Snyatynska poultry farm, which specializes in goose meat and foie Gras (goose liver).
This is stated on the website of the company.
Production will be stopped by the beginning of September.
“MHP believes that foie Gras production does not match the strategy and policy of the company”, – said in the release.
Zooprotective organization “Open cells” notes that it was the only factory in Ukraine, where they made foie Gras.
To receive this product the animals are actually tortured. Feeding occurs via the hose that stick directly into the stomach of birds through the throat. Portions increase with each subsequent meal, every day, to slaughter. The flow of feed is so strong that the esophagus of some geese do not stand up and burst.
In Sniatyn the factory employs about 300 people.
