Plastic bags decompose for over 100 years, noted the authors submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a bill to ban the use of certain types of polyethylene.
On January 28 the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine registered a bill to reduce the amount of waste polyethylene in circulation. The document received a number 9507.
The authors of the bill listed several dozen MPs from different parliamentary factions.
In the explanatory Memorandum refer to the prohibition of use of certain types of polyethylene, adopted on 24 October 2018 the European Parliament.
“This decision due to the threat of global environmental catastrophe related to the use people plastic. The period of decomposition of plastic bags is more than 100 years,” said the authors.
The purpose of the bill is called the reduction of the quantity of hazardous waste from polyethylene caused by careless use of plastic bags. And the goal of the document is the reduction of sales of plastic bags.
In may 2018 podgoretskii the Council of the Dnieper decided to send a letter to the Verkhovna Rada with a request to ban plastic bags at the legislative level. It was suggested that the harmful material to replace more environmentally friendly, namely, paper bags and economcally.
