The Verkhovna Rada at an extraordinary meeting on July 13 will consider the bill, which provides for the abolition of the size limit of salaries of officials. Bill No. 3708, introduced by a group of MPs from the “Servants of the people” on 19 June included in the agenda of the meeting.
“The purpose of the bill is to define the validity restrictions in the areas of payroll, judicial remuneration, in cash collateral to the people’s deputies of Ukraine, judges, constitutional Court judges, members of the High Council of justice, members of the High qualifications Commission of judges of Ukraine, prosecutors, employees, staff and officials of the National Bank of Ukraine and other officials and service persons and employees, whose wages are regulated by special laws”, – stated in the explanatory note to the draft.
In particular, the deputies propose to establish that “the limitation applies and shall not exceed three months.”
According to the Cabinet decision of 13 April, the salaries of state officials must not exceed the amount of 10 minimum salaries. Thus, in the case of the bill the limitation will expire.
From April 2020, the salary of all civil servants in Ukraine is not more than 47 thousand. President Vladimir Zelensky said that this reduction applies to judges, deputies, prosecutors, employees of the national Bank, Central election Commission and members of Supervisory boards.
Against them were the international monetary Fund. “The restriction of the maximum wage could lead to the loss of major talents and experience needed. It would not be in the interests of Ukraine”, – said permanent representative of IMF in Ukraine Jost Longman.
