Jeenbekov went on leave on 5 August
The President of Kyrgyzstan Jeenbekov Sooronbai cut short his vacation and headed to the country’s capital Bishkek on the background of the situation with the former President Almazbek Atambayev. About it reports RBC-Ukraine with reference to the press service of the President of Kyrgyzstan.
Reportedly, the Zheenbekov went on leave on 5 August. Information about his return came amid reports about the detention of former President Almazbek Atambayev at his residence.
According to the lawyer Sergei Atambayev Slesareva, “he is in a safe place” and not detained. Information about the arrest also denied a local Deputy Irina Karamushkina.
Informed RBC-Ukraine reported that in Kyrgyzstan, special forces stormed the residence of former President Almazbek Atambayev, in the village of Koi-Tash near Bishkek. The result of the military operation, several people were injured.
Note Atambayev headed Kyrgyzstan from 2011 to 2017, was the first President, who voluntarily left after one term and was overthrown in a revolution. The Prosecutor General of Kyrgyzstan says that she has grounds for institution of criminal cases against the former President and has repeatedly called him in for questioning, but he was not. Today Atambayev is in opposition to the current government.
His being investigated for illicit enrichment, misappropriation of land, corruption in the modernization of the Bishkek TPP, but also in the release in 2013 of criminal authority Aziz batukaeva.
Atambayev calls all accusations against him “absurd”, he is constantly at his residence, located in the foothill area, 20 km from Bishkek.
