The Prosecutor General’s office intends to appeal the verdict of the fugitive ex-President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych. This was stated by Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko in the air of one of Ukrainian TV channels on Friday, 1 February.
Lutsenko noted that “one could argue”, because the GPU insisted on a 15-year sentence for Yanukovych, however, refused this decision after a conversation with prosecutors.
“I made the decision not to appeal (the verdict on Viktor Yanukovych – ed.)”, – informed the Prosecutor General.
According to him, now the prosecution will focus on the case of the shootings on the Maidan, which also featured a runaway President.
