This discovery greatly increases the number of galaxies in which scientists can not record the existence of dark matter. A team of astrophysicists from Yale University indicated that the average speed of the globular clusters in the galaxy NGC 1052-DF2 coincides with the baryon model. A new method
Was subsequently found new examples of such galaxies. In particular, recently in the journal Nature Astronomy published an article in which described 19 new dwarf galaxies, which have not, apparently, dark matter. The calculations of astrophysicists, were made using a new method which allows to highlight the movement of hydrogen atoms that did not take into account previous methods.
However, full confidence, no now, because there are “systematic gaps” in the measurements, which have yet to be filled. For example, if the angle of the galaxy relative to the Earth to measure correctly in the calculations an error appears.
However, if the measurement is confirmed, and it turns out that in some galaxies is no dark matter, the modern theory of the formation of the Universe – in particular, the model of the Lambda-CDM will have to discard.
What is the model of the Lambda-CDM?
It is a modern cosmological model in which a spatially flat universe filled, in addition to ordinary baryonic matter, dark energy (described by the cosmological constant Λ in Einstein’s equations) and cold dark matter (Cold Dark Matter). It is often called the standard model of cosmology, the big Bang, because it explains the presence and the structure of the cosmic microwave background, large scale structure of galaxy clusters and the distribution of hydrogen, helium, lithium and oxygen in our Universe.
