The epidemic of the coronavirus has made adjustments to the familiar life of millions of people around the world. One of the most affected sectors – catering. In South Korea, seem to have found a great solution to the problem of social distancing. There is people cooking and handing out coffee does the friendly robot Barista.
For maintenance two-storey café in Daejeon, South Korea, with just one person. He cleans tables and dressing ingredients, from which finished products for sale. The rest of the work – taking orders, cooking, and the results – operate robots.
“Robots are fun, and it was easy, because you don’t need to pick up your order. But I’m also a little worried about the labor market, as many of my friends can be replaced by similar devices”, – shares his impressions of a visitor café.
Customers make orders through a dedicated touch panel, after which it takes the robot Barista. He prepares the drink, and then his “colleague” delivers orders to the right tables. The latter are arranged so that people were sitting from each other at a safe distance. When passing a drink to the visitor, the robot politely wished good appetite and gives advice on how to drink different types of coffee.
Currently, the robot is able to prepare 60 different types of coffee. The complete cycle from order to delivery of six drinks on the table takes only seven minutes. Automated mechanism able to send information to other devices in a cafe, and find the best route to expedite the acceptance of the order and the results of coffee. By the end of this year, a similar robotic system intend to introduce 30 public catering establishments in South Korea.
