The state statistics service introduced a new method of calculating inflation.

Now take into account the indicators only at the regional centres and some cities.
In particular, in 2020 the state statistics to calculate the consumer price index takes account of the Krivoy Rog (Dnipropetrovsk region), Mariupol, Kramatorsk (Donetsk region), Mukachevo (Transcarpathian region), Bila Tserkva, Brovary (Kyiv region), Severodonetsk and Lysychansk (Lugansk region).
Early methodology involved the use of data from 3-5 settlements in each area.
Also, the state statistics service has updated the structure of the consumer price index.
Weight of food in the basket of inflation lowered from 45,4% to 44.7%. The weight of housing services in the structure of the index increased from 4.9% to 5.4% (including gas from 1.25% to 1.39%).
Increased weight of cars such as the product from 2.4% to 2.8%, transport services – from 2.35% to 3.2%, while the share of fuel and lubricants reduced from 3.85% to 3.15%.
As reported, in January 2020, the inflation in Ukraine in annual terms slowed to 3.2% compared with 4.1% in January 2019.
NBU predicts that by the end of 2020 the inflation will not exceed 5%.
