The Supreme court sided with a Bank client lost their accounts due to “low social status”

The Supreme court recognized illegal actions of Alfa-Bank, failed in the opening of a customer account with features of low social status. The lawsuit against the bankers filed a resident of St. Petersburg Konstantin Shamko.

The claimant was a customer of the Baltic Bank. After joining companies to Alfa-Bank refused to reopen the account due to suspicions of financing terrorism and suspicious look.

“In appearance the client is in a state of alcoholic or narcotic intoxication, has signs of a low social status,” reported a Bank employee K. Ryzhkov.

Resident of the Northern capital didn’t accept such a verdict. First, he obtained from Alfa-Bank of changes in the wording – it said that the failure is associated only with the suspicion of security. Then Shamko appealed to the courts. He was lost until, until he came to judicial Board on civil cases of the Russian armed forces.

“The lower courts ignored the fact that the remaining two criteria were mutually exclusive, stated the Board. The indication that the client insisted on all elevated packages, exclude reference to such a criterion of failure as the inability to independently clarify which plan the client needs”, – TASS quoted the definition.

The dispute sent for a new trial in the district court. Representatives of financial institutions to comment on the situation refused.
