The US President Donald trump has signed a cooperation agreement with his Polish counterpart Andrzej Duda, which includes the expansion of the military presence of the United States in Poland.
Joint Declaration on the promotion of defence cooperation, the two leaders signed, on 23 September on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in new York, reports Radio Liberty.
Now the US military presence in Poland amounts to about 4,500 military forces in the territory of the European countries on a rotational basis. “It is expected that in the short term (population – ed.) will increase by about 1,000 military”, – the document says.
Parties have already identified six locations where the United States will increase military presence, and discuss the appropriate location for the battle group armoured brigade. Trump said that the additional U.S. forces will be “likely” are translated from other European databases and Poland will assume the financial obligations of the new places of deployment for the troops.
On a question of journalists, aims to strengthen the US military presence in Poland against Russia, trump replied: “No, I don’t think so”.
