Pentagon chief James Mattis plans to increase the number of American fighter-bombers ready for combat operations. In the opinion of the Secretary of defense, the Air force of the country should be better prepared for a potential war with Russia or China.
This is with reference to the recently published Memorandum of the Pentagon, reports The Times.
The document James Mattis ordered to increase the combat readiness of the four most effective types of fighter-bombers of the US by 15%. To perform this task he takes one year and requires to allocate a significant portion of 717 billion dollars military budget of the United States.
In addition, the Minister of defense was also urged to increase the number of combat-ready F-35, F-22, F-16 and F-18 to 80%. As notes the edition, at present the number of ready-to-deploy American fighters these species is only about 71%.
