To make minimal interruptions to customers
The US government temporarily eased the trade restrictions imposed on the Chinese company Huawei. This is done in order to minimize any interruptions to customers, reports Reuters.
The Commerce Department allowed Huawei Technologies Co Ltd to buy American-made goods to maintain networks and software updates for existing phones.
At the same time, Huawei is still prohibited to buy American spare parts and components for production of new products without obtaining licenses.
The US government stated that it had imposed restrictions because of the involvement of Huawei in acts contrary to the interests of national security or foreign policy.
“This decision gives time for the operators using Huawei equipment, to take the necessary measures”, – commented on the news, the U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross.
Guide Huawei took this decision skeptically, saying that the company is prepared to U.S. actions.
Ren Zhengfei, founder of Huawei, said that the temporary license for the continuance of the restrictions imposed by the United States government had no special significance for the company because she was ready for such a scenario.
“By their actions the US government currently underestimates our capabilities,” said Ren Zhengfei.
Earlier, Huawei has received a temporary license to work in the United States.
