Turkey plans to put into operation the first unit nuclear power plant for its 100th anniversary

Turkey plans to put into operation the first unit of NPP “Akkuyu” to the celebration of the 100th anniversary since the founding of the Republic in 2023.

This was stated Friday by the Minister of energy and natural resources of Turkey Fatih Donmez, reports the correspondent of UKRINFORM.

“Our goal in respect of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant – commissioning of the first unit in 2023, 100th anniversary of our Republic”, – said the Minister.

According to him, the NPP will consist of four units, the facility will be run 15-16 thousand people.

The total capacity of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant will be 4,800 MW. The project cost more than 20 billion U.S. dollars.

As you know, the project is being implemented by Rosatom. In may last year, there were reports that the Foundation find cracks.
