Turkey will exert efforts to secure the release of captured Ukrainian sailors and ships and to take an active part in ensuring security in the black sea region.
This was stated by Minister of foreign Affairs of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu.
“As with Ukraine and with Russia we have a good relationship. Given that the international community has certain expectations from Turkey. We will continue our efforts to release detainees. After the crisis in the Kerch Strait, our President repeatedly sent their requests to the President of the Russian Federation. And our side will continue efforts for the release of ships and prisoners,” he said.
The Turkish foreign Minister noted that Turkey supports the settlement of the Kerch crisis by exclusively peaceful means and as a country-member of NATO will make every effort to security in the black sea region, coordinating their actions with the Alliance.
“After the start of the Kerch crisis, we noted that it should be regulated exclusively by peaceful means, under international law. With regard to the overall security of the black sea region, we as a country-member of NATO will fully support and carry out the decisions of the Alliance. We don’t want to see the Black sea the sea of tension, but rather a sea of peace and tranquillity,” he said.
