Ukraine and Israel on Monday, January 21, signed the Agreement on free trade zone.
The signing ceremony in Jerusalem was broadcast live on Ukrainian television.
The ceremony was attended by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Before the ceremony, Poroshenko called the day “historic”, because, according to him, the free trade agreement had been preparing for 50 years.
The signing was preceded by several rounds of negotiations. In particular, Petro Poroshenko and Netanyahu met on this occasion in new York and Paris.
“We’ve learned from Israel how to protect our country, how to strengthen our army. And we learned in Israel how to make strong and transparent our economy. I think it’s very important,” – said the Ukrainian President.
According to Poroshenko, the agreement will help reduce the price of Ukrainian goods in Israel and of Israeli products in Ukraine.
