Ukraine’s international reserves increased by 22%, a record since 2012 – NBU

Международные резервы Украины выросли на 22%, это рекорд с 2012 года, - НБУ

During the 2019 international reserves of Ukraine grew by 22%, and by 1 January 2020 stood at $ 25.3 billion

The regulator said that this level of reserves not only exceeded the latest forecast of the national Bank ($ 23 billion according to the Inflation report for October 2019), but has reached a seven-year high – the last time more from the above-mentioned amount was recorded in December 2012.

“To increase the international reserves of only $ 4.5 billion during the year the National Bank managed by keeping a favorable situation on the currency market, which caused further acceleration of economic growth and steady inflow of foreign capital into the country. The buildup of international reserves occurred during the year of the dual elections and the implementation of peak payments on the external debt, which is additional evidence of strengthening macro-financial stability in the country “, – said in the message.
