Ukrainian boxer Sergey Derevyanchenko will get a chance to fight for a champion belt IBF. World champion Middleweight champion Saul Alvarez could lose his IBF title, and he will become vacant.
Derevyanchenko has become a mandatory Challenger for a world title fight in April, winning by decision of judges Jack Kulka. After that, he climbed to first place in the IBF ranking.
The IBF ordered the Mexican to conduct the defense against mandatory Challenger Sergey Derevyanchenko, but the champion team did not even start negotiations about the organization of the match.
In particular, the Mexican team is unhappy because Alvarez recently defeated Danny Jacobs, who in turn defeated Sergiy Derevyanchenko.
The deadline for the start of negotiations between Alvarez and Sergey Derevyanchenko expired on 15 June. Team Alvarez has not responded to an official letter and asked to transfer protection.
As reported by Boxing Scene, the fight for the vacant belt can hold, Sergey Derevyanchenko and Gennady Golovkin.
However, Golovkin also lost the IBF belt last year for refusing to fight Derevyanchenko.
Gennady Golovkin – known Kazakhstan boxer, former world champion in the WBA (2010-2018), IBF (2015-2018), WBC (2016-2018), IBO (2011-2018), The Ring (2018-2018). Golovkin twice fought Alvarez: one fight ended in a draw and the other Gennady lost.
