“May 23, on the basis of one of military units of air command “West” of Air forces of Armed Forces of Ukraine held a solemn farewell of the tenth rotation of personnel of the 18th separate helicopter detachment, which performs tasks as part of the UN Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo”, – stated in the message.
As noted, all members of this rotation, under the command of first-class pilot Colonel Ivan Solomia are involved in the fighting in Eastern Ukraine.
In the Congo Ukrainian troops will carry out tasks to destination for a minimum of six months.
During this time, the crews of Ukrainian helicopters Mi-24 and Mi-8 will conduct aerial reconnaissance, to patrol certain areas, to provide air support of ground troops of the UN Mission, reported in a press-service.
