Third President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko did a lot for the formation of national identity, but it was not “irreversible scale” as the fifth President Petro Poroshenko said in interview to “the Ukrainian truth” published on August 19, Director of the Institute of national remembrance Vladimir viatrovych.
“One of the presidents did the most for the formation of Ukrainian identity?” – asked the journalist. “Petro Poroshenko,” – said vyatrovich.
“Viktor Yushchenko did a lot, but it was not solid and irreversible scale. And Poroshenko is and decommunization, and Ukrainization of the army, and the greeting: “Glory to Ukraine”, – said the head of the Institute of National remembrance.
Viatrovych ran for Parliament under 25-m number in the list of the party Poroshenko “European solidarity”, but has not passed in Parliament.
April 9, 2015 the Verkhovna Rada adopted the laws “On the condemnation of Communist and national socialist (Nazi) totalitarian regimes in Ukraine and the prohibition of propaganda of their symbols”; “the access to the archives of repressive bodies of the Communist totalitarian regime 1917-1991”; “On commemorating the victory over Nazism in the Second world war 1939-1945” and “On the legal status and the memory of fighters for independence of Ukraine in XX century”.
Laws of Soviet symbols is prohibited, condemned the Communist regime. In the framework of de-communization are renaming of settlements, streets and other facilities.
