German auto giant Volkswagen announced plans to present at the auto show in Shanghai, the latest electric crossover. The model will take the position of flagship of the brand, but this is only a concept. Recall that the Shanghai motor show kicks off on April 16 and will last until April 24. Along with the announcement the company introduced the first depiction of a product called ID Roomzz (formerly known as ID Lounge).

Once a full member of the electric family “ID”, as you can guess by the place of debut, will first appear in the Chinese market, and it will happen in 2021. The manufacturer does not separately emphasized the possibility of entering the ID in other countries, however, such a development cannot be ruled out. In addition, together with the concept VW continues to demonstrate the versatility of its platform MEB (Modular Electric drive Matrix), because all the concepts of ID, including ID and ID Buggy Crozz built on it.

As for the name “Roomzz”, the creators say it reflects the possibility for change and transformation of the salon as a concept “completely new configuration of the seats, the trim highest quality materials and custom interior lighting”. Have models and innovative technological component in the form of the autopilot level 4 ID Pilot, which, once activated, will completely relieve the driver from having to operate a vehicle.

ID Roomzz is intended to show the possibilities of the VW in the field of creation of electric full-sized family SUV. Judging by the promotional image, the “face” of the new concept is very similar to ID Crozz, and “coach” rear doors and sloping roofline gives the crossover kupeobrazny silhouette. At the same time, ID Roomzz looks much more aggressive than Crozz – all thanks to a deep punch on the hood, muscular wheel arches and a bloated front fenders.
