What’s wrong with Google Stadia: the company made an important statement

One of the biggest stories last week was the launch of the long awaited “cloud” Google’s Stadia. The company promised gamers the Golden mountains: high performance and cool features, but the release failed.

What happened

One of the complaints from the players was the solution: as it turned out, many games do not support the promised 4K resolution at 60 fps. What’s the matter? Google representatives claim that the problem of the developers.

First, the problem was written by the authors of the site 9to5google, then there was a video from Digital Foundry. Soon after the emergence of claims to the portal Eurogamer have shared the official Google application. According to the company, it provided its partners with freedom: “those free to choose any methods to achieve the best picture quality and frame rate”.

“Developers working on games for the Stadia, trying to provide a better streaming experience for each title. As you can see on all platforms, this includes different methods to achieve the best quality. We give developers the freedom in this business for Stadia, and be amazed at what they could achieve now,” – said in Google.

We believe that many developers can and in most cases will improve their creations on Stadia. And since the Stadia uses our data centers, the authors can quickly innovate without the need to download patches or even the games themselves,
– added Google representatives.

The reaction of gamers to the message

Many saw in this message an attempt to shift the blame for places about an advertising campaign on the shoulders of the game writers.

Especially strange as such an assertion looks at the background of the loud promises of the Vice-President of Google Phil Harrison: he promised 4K users in all available platform titles on the launch platform. What did not happen. The audience is perplexed, but the situation could always change.

What is known about Google’s Stadia?
It’s a cloud streaming gaming service from Google, previously known as Project Stream. The service became available on 19 November 2019 30 countries. The game service is available for various devices: laptops, desktops, TVs, tablets and phones.

Service representatives of the company called the possibility of streaming computer games to the user’s device in 4K resolution and 60 frames per second. The company also promised the possibility of video in 8K resolution and 120 frames per second.

Google about the availability of Stadia in the Ukrainian market are not yet known.
