South-Ukrainian NPP visited November 26 the Ambassador extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to Ukraine Anka Feldguzen. The purpose of the visit was to discuss the intermediate stages of the Ukrainian-German cooperation for the modernization of the physical protection system of the South-Ukrainian NPP.
During the visit of the German Ambassador was accompanied by representatives of the Society on the safety of installations and reactors (GRS, Germany) and Sommer (Germany) – direct participants in the implementation of the international technical assistance project “modernization of the perimeter of the SUNPP”. In the extended meeting was attended by the leading specialists of the management of GP “NAEK “Energoatom”, state nuclear regulatory Inspectorate, representatives of the National guard of Ukraine headed by first Deputy commander (chief of staff) Vladimir Kondratyuk. In the discussion of achieved results and further plans to strengthen the physical protection of nuclear power station also participated the representatives of the Corporation “TSM GROUP” PAT “Yuzhenergostroy”, a military unit 3044 and Khmelnytskyi nuclear power plants.
Welcoming the guests, Director General of su NPP Vladimir Lisnichenko said: “I Sincerely thank the government and the entire people of the Federal Republic of Germany for the extremely important help in raising the level of nuclear safety and security is southern-the Ukrainian nuclear power plants. Technical re-equipment of physical protection systems of our company raises the quality to a new level it security, security of Ukraine and Europe’s security. Hope that the completion of existing projects working with our German colleagues will not end, and will be key to deepening cooperation between our countries”.
The overall implementation of the project of technical re-equipment of the physical protection system is southern-the Ukrainian nuclear power plant began in 2015. The basis for the implementation of the project was the initiative of the group of seven countries to expand and deepen cooperation in improving levels of nuclear safety and security nuclear power plants of Ukraine (“Global partnership against the spread of weapons and materials of mass destruction”, 2014, the Hague).
The participants visited the locations of German equipment, expressed complete satisfaction with its quality. “This is my first ever visit to the nuclear plant. I am very pleased with what he saw. Despite the fact that Germany has decided to phase out nuclear power plants, we care about the safety of nuclear power plants. An example of the modernization of the physical protection perimeter of the southern-the Ukrainian nuclear power plant is proof of the effective cooperation between our two countries. Here the equipment is installed, which has so far not even in Germany”, – shared his impressions of the Ambassador of Germany in Ukraine Anka Feldguzen.
During the implementation of the project for SUNPP supplied equipment of German manufacture for access control systems, physical barriers, detection etc. of the provided is suitable for the needs of units of the National guard of Ukraine, whose soldiers are deployed to the protection and defense of nuclear facilities. In particular, at the expense of the technical assistance delivered modern armoured cabins protective. South-Ukrainian nuclear power station the first among Ukrainian nuclear power plant received equipment of this class. Thanks to international aid was able to significantly strengthen the physical protection of the company and to provide more comfortable conditions of service hour.
“The quality of tasks assigned to the National guard of Ukraine, depends on close cooperation with the management of Energoatom, and nuclear power plants, and modernization of material-technical base allows to significantly increase the level of security and physical protection of nuclear objects”, – said the first Deputy commander NSU Vladimir Kondratyuk.
Summing up the intermediate stage of implementation of Ukrainian-German project, a representative of GRS, technical Director Uwe Stoll said: “Germany is interested in nuclear security and physical protection have been comprehensively secured for Ukrainian nuclear power plants. I am convinced that the German government will help to ensure that all undertaken projects we have completed and provided physical protection of the Ukrainian nuclear power plant at the highest level”.
Information about the su NPP
NPP is the basis of the South Ukrainian energy complex, located in the Nikolaev area and providing requirements for electric energy of the region with a population of over 5 million people. The composition of the complex includes: the South-Ukrainian NPP (3 nuclear power units with total installed capacity of 3000 MWt), Aleksandrovsky hydroelectric power station on the river southern bug (2 generating units, the total power of 9.8 MW) and Tashlyk pumped storage plant (commissioned in the first place: 2 hydro total working capacity in the generator mode 320 MW under construction the second phase – generating unit №3).
In 1996 as a separate division of the company became part of the GP “NAEK “Energoatom”. Over the years, su NPP produced more than 550 billion kWh of electrical energy.
